Displayed in the park since 1983, initially in the markings and serial (N2-23) it wore when it retired from the Australian Navy. Later repainted in RAAF (ARDU) markings and kangaroo roundels but without a serial. While it was in RAAF service , it was never with ARDU and never wore kangaroo roundels in RAAF service. Removed from the park in 2024 for restoration and repainting. The markings chosen were those it wore when transferred from the RAAF to the RAN in 1950. It retained its RAAF serial for a short period and that is what was applied during the restoration.

The Australian navy's second Dakota, ex RAAF and yet to receive its navy serial N2-23. VJ-ORB is a radio call sign. At the time military aircraft in Australia used civil call signs, the VJ prefix being navy and VM- the RAAF. They also had dedicated blocks of registrations and there was no VH-ORB until the military ceased using the system. Photo from: Civil Aviation Historical Society, Melbourne, Australia
