Delivered in December 1970. While conducting flight LN114 from Tripoli to Cairo (via Benghazi) on 21st February 1973, the aircraft was shot down by two Israeli F-4Es after navigation difficulties had caused it to stray off course into Israeli-controlled airspace over the Sinai Peninsula. Of the 113 on board, five survived the attempted crash landing which impacted the top of a sand dune. The action was condemned worldwide and Libyan leader Gaddafi planned retaliatory attacks but these were foiled
