Some 529 T-2 Buckeyes were built between 1958 and 1970. From acceptance in 1970 this one flew with VT-26 at NAS Chase Field, TX and VT-19 then CTW-1 at NAS Meridian, MS. In 2003 it made the last carrier landing by a T-2 and in 2004 was decommissioned and sent to the Pensacola museum

On 25 July 2003 this T-2C recorded the last T-2 carrier arrested landing aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-65). After being on display outside for many years the a/c went through a minor restoration, including repainting, and was moved inside the main museum building in March 2023.

The A-coded training aircraft of the US Navy belong to Training Wing ONE, based at NAS Meridian (MS). But this A-coded Buckeye was seen at the flight line of Kingsville (TX). In these days, many aircraft swapped units and wings after a maintenance or overhaul service.
