The museum's C-141B Starlifter was delivered to the US Air Force in 1966 and has been assigned to Travis AFB, CA., McChord AFB, WA., Norton AFB, CA., and March AFB, CA. It was last assigned to the 452nd Air Mobility Wing, March AFB, CA. It arrived at the museum in November 1999.

'The Golden Bear' was the first operational Starlifter, delivered to Travis on 23 April 1965. After a long and distinguished career she was put on display on the base near the museum.

At this time serving the 438th MAW, this Starlifter repatriated the pilot of the second Black Hawk 'down' in the battle of Mogadishu in 10.93. To AMARC 13.4.01 and since broken up like most of her sister-ships

This aircraft carried an all grey livery with minute codes and low-visibility markings

Lockheed demonstrator for civil version of C-141. Sold to NASA as N714NA in 1968 and converted into the Kuiper Airborne Observatory in the early 1970s.
