Ca.1952: TOS USAF as KC-97G. Ca.1957: Converted to C-97G for SAC mission support, with refueling equipment removed, cargo doors sealed, and passenger seats installed. By 1977: Chanute AFB, IL as ground instruction aircraft. 1993: Chanute closed and this plane became part of the new Octave Chanute Aviation Center (Chanute Air Museum). 10/31/15: Museum closed. 2017: Scrapped.

Built as a KC-97G tanker but modified in service to C-97G freighter role.

This old girl serves as the gate guard at the Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum. The museum closed in November 2015 and the C-97 and C-133 were offered for scrap at government auction in September 2017.
