1950: TOS USAF as a B-50D; assigned to the 2nd Bombardment Wing (Medium), Hunter AFB, GA, until at least 1953. 1958: Converted to KB-50J refueling tanker; assigned to the 4505th Aerial Refueling Wing, Langley AFB, VA. Ca.1961: 431st Air Refueling Squadron, Biggs AFB, TX. 15 Feb 1965: Ferried to Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, for display at the Air Force Museum. By 1986: Marked as 48-114. 1996: Shipped to MacDill AFB, FL, for display there. Early 2018: Shipped to the Dover AFB, NJ, Air Mobility Museum.

This KB-50J is now located at the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover AFB where it is being restored for display.

Hayes Aircraft Corp. converted 136 surplus B-50Ds to KB-50 tankers, deliveries of the improved jet-assisted KB-50J version beginning in 1958. Replaced by KC-135s in the mid-60s, a few were still available in 1965 for use in SE Asia for emergency refuelling of fighters over hostile territory. Framed by WB-50D 0-90310, this one was soon after painted with fake serial 0-80114 and was moved to the Air Park at McDill AFB, FL in 1996
