Although this Phantom is painted with 171 Filo markings, this unit stopped F-4E operations in 2016. All Turkish F-4s are operated with 111 Filo since that year.

A 111 Filo Phantom with special markings... 1958-2018, 60 years of service. The F-4 started operations that long ago! The Turkish Air Force has operated the type for 47 years.

The 5000th built F-4E is in service with the Turkish Air Force. A little marking on the nose commemorates this. Since July 2016, this F-4E belongs to 111 Filo "Panterler" (Panter) based at Eskisehir, but still carries the markings of its former owner 171 Filo "Korsan"(Pirates). 171 Filo was designated as the first Turkish F-35A squadron at Malatya/Erhac, but due to tensions concerning the Russian S-400 air defense system between Turkey and the USA, it is possible the Pirates never will receive the F-35A.

The latest F-4 variant is the Turkish Air Force Terminator. A batch of Turkish was modernized by Israel on the pattern of the Kurnass 2000. This most modern 1978 Phantom flies with 171 Filo "Korsanlar" and it was reported at Konya that these aircraft will continue to fly for another ten years from now!
