F-14B-155 (FY88) flew from September 1990 with VF-24 as NG-207, with VF-143 as AG-107, AG-100 and AG-111 before an overhaul at Grumman St. Augustine (FL) in September 1999. After the overhaul, the Tomcat was assigned to VF-143 again as AG-106. It then was transferred to VF-102 as AB-110 and returned to VF-143 as AG-101 (as pictured). The Cat was stored at AMARC as 1K0178 from March 2005. It was scrapped :-( in the Arizona desert in July 2007.

The personnel from VF-11 were nice enough to accommodate an impromptu visit by a small group of enthusiastic Tomcat fans as their squadron knocked off for the day to enjoy a picnic. Sadly, this was the last visit by any F-14 squadron to NAF El Centro but a good time was had by all.

The Swordsmen CAG bird in full colour. Rarely seen, this Tomcat was launched from the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) with a flag to shoot at. The flag, seen lying on the deck next to the the Tomcat, was attached to the F-14s rear end (to the tailhook construction) with a very long rope. When the Tomcat was launched, the rope followed the aircraft, as well as the flag. Other aircraft were then able to shoot at the flag during air-to-air-training.

A dying Tomcat, so sad to see that this F-14B, that was delivered in March 1985 to the US Navy as F-14A-130-GR, was scrapped during my visit to NAS Oceana. The Tomcat served proudly VF-11 as AE-101 (April 1987-March 1989) after which it was converted to F-14B. Then it was assigned to VF-103 as AA-202 (April 1992-January 1997), AA-102 (April 1998 - October 1997), AA-106 (February 1998 - March 1998) before it was transferred to VF-143 "Puckin Dogs". From September 1999 it carried AG-104 to the bare end.

VF-74 "Be-Devilers" F-14B seen late afternoon and participating in the WTI course. Photo was taken less than a month before the squadron was dis-established. Noteworthy is the aggressor style scheme as VF-74 was then part of Fighter Wing Atlantic and were not to deploy since they were not TARPS equipped. The Navy had decided to go with only one Tomcat squadron aboard Saratoga so VF-74 was left in this role before their demise.
