Ex USAAF 44-17113. Acquired by Royal Highness Prince Bernhard, spouse of Dutch Queen Juliana, in 1949, and used by him as his personal aircraft until 1956. In the next 10 years it flew with various companies and private individuals until it became OO-PBB in Sep 1967. It returned to Holland in Apr 1990, again as PH-PBB, initially flown by the Dutch Dakota Association. It came under the care of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht Historische Vlucht in 1999, but remained the property of the DDA. Its CofA expired 24 May 2012, and the registration was subsequently cancelled 19 Jul 2013. Now preserved.

Apart from the radio, transponder and GPS, essentials for modern air navigation, this Sentinel's cockpit looks pretty much as it must have come out of the factory in 1942.

Built to a 1942 order for the USAAF as 42-99331, this aircraft evidently went to the China-Burma-India theatre of war as after the war it was civilianised in India as VT-CDL, one of about 100 such. Imported to Australia and beautifully restored, it was first registered as VH-NLR on 16 April 1999.
