After VF-126 use, the aircraft was preserved as modex 50 at Miramar from November 1995. The aircraft was eventually returned to Fallon and preserved there as NF-401 in the air power park of Fallon from February 2006.

Taken on strength by the US Navy in November 1975, this Skyhawk served as Training Air Wing 1 (TW-1) Commander's aircraft during it's last ten years of service. Stored at NAS Pensacola on the ramp at the National Naval Aviation Museum since 1999, it was loaned to VFW Post 1697 just a few months after this photo was taken. Mounted on a pole September 6, 2015, the aircraft is displayed at Veteran's Memorial Park in Collegedale, TN.
