Has to be my favourite result from Ekaterinburg - one smart-looking An-12. Manufactured 1.71 and operated in 1990 with joint Aeroflot/Balkan titles; to Ural 1995 and initially flew as 4K-12999. Sold to Vega as LZ-VEB just a month after this photo then ATMA as UN-11019 by 9.07; seen at DXB in 2008 as UN-AN212 and most recently at MSQ as EW-435TI in 10.17 with Grodno Aviakompania

Seen being towed from the main ramp to the hangar area, the tug was struggling a bit as can be seen from the black smoke. Great to find an An-12 at Lanseria, particularly in the colours of this little-known and intriguingly named Armenian/Russian operator. Ex UR-CGR, LZ-BRV and RA-11116

In the early 1980s Aeroflot operated an An-12 freight service into Amsterdam, and CCCP-11107 is seen here after an early-morning touchdown on runway 06. Only three months later, on 24 April 1982, during the take-off from Novy Urengoi in western Siberia, this aircraft ran off the runway and was destroyed by fire.
