Due to a severe shortage of aircraft at the outbreak of WWI the G-III was pressed into service by the RFC. The British were much more impressed with the French 80hp Le Rhone engine than the aeroplane that contained it. Rapidly overtaken by advances in aircraft design the G-III was soon relegated to air-training duties. This particular example was built in France in 1916 but nothing is known about it's serial or service life.

The Caudron G.3 was an important Allied aircraft early in the Great War, and there are authentic examples in Hendon, Brussels and of course in the magnificent Musée de l'Air. F-AZMB at La Ferté-Alais is a replica.

An original 1914 built aircraft seen in the RAF Museum. The type was initially used for reconnaissance at the start of WWI but as aircraft design advanced rapidly it was later used for pilot training

This aircraft type first flew in 1913 and it entered service in August 1914. The type served as a reconnaissance and artillery ranging aircraft throughout the whole of WWI. It was a very stable platform and very forgiving of pilot errors. Seen in the Musée de l'Air
