A special exhibit. One of 26 Badgers supplied during the period of co-operation with the USSR from 1961, serving SkU.41 and 42 at Iswahjudi AB, Madiun until the end of the 1960s when relations with Russia broke down and parts became embargoed. They were active during the Indonesian confrontation with Malaysia, flying sorties into Malaysian airspace near Singapore. Of the 26, 12 were the Tu-16KS-1B variant which was equipped to carry two Kennel air-to-surface missiles on underwing pylons as displayed here. Unfortunately it is impossible to photograph it satisfactorily under the protective roof.

The Poltava Museum of Long-Range and Strategic Aviation was officially founded in 2016, however, the museum, founded by former military pilots, exists since 2007. One of the large bombers in the museum is this Tu-16K-26, ex 25 red.

Egypt has used a number of Badger variants including Tu-16KS, Tu-16T, Tu-16KSR-2-11, Tu-16R and also the Chinese H-6. Given that this one is presented with Raduga KSR-2 (AS-5 Kelt) cruise missiles it should be a Tu-16KSR-2-11 but it's not clear. Seen at the Egyptian Air Force Museum which is adjacent to Almaza Air Force Base.

Reported c/n of 222000159 does not appear to be correct for an H6. Correct serial is 50671. Local version of the Tupolev-16, with over 200 still in service (2021). This aircraft is reported to have dropped China's first nuclear bomb.

This impressive bomber has found a shelter from the blazing Indonesian sun. It is remarkable that of all the Soviet friendly states only Egypt and Indonesia were allowed to use this type (next to China's licence built Harbin H-6)

Ex Soviet Navy. Latterly used as a "weather control aircraft" by the Soviet Air Force Research Institute at Chkalovsky, wearing Aeroflot markings. Retired in the 1990s and scrapped in 2005.

Indonesia received two dozen Tu-16KS bombers in the early 1960s. They were armed with the large KS-1 Komet anti-shipping missile that can be seen under the starboard wing.
