Shenzhen Airlines was started in 1992 by the city of Shenzhen with the help of Air China. This is the second 737-300 ordered by the airline from Boeing and was delivered July 27, 1994. Withdrawn in 2011 as the airline acquired newer aircraft, the 737 went to Africa as ZS-VDP. First with LCC Velvet Sky, then to Star Air in 2012 as the LCC ceased flying. Last known withdrawn July 27, 2018.

In an incident aboard this aircraft in 2015, a passenger set fire to the inside of the cabin whilst on approach, causing damage to seating and a door. Shenzhen operate several flights per day to Zhuhai.
