A rather cluttered shot of a nonetheless great looking Sk37 Viggen trainer. This aircraft with serial 37805 is preserved inside the excellent F15 Flygmuseum in Söderhamn, where the history of this Swedish air force base comes to life. The museum is located in a former maintenance hangar of this former air base. One of the features of the tall Viggen was that it could fold its tail as seen in this picture, to fit in the maintenance hangars as well as underground hangars.

The Flyg- och Lottamuseum in Optand has one of the largest collections of Saab Viggen fighters in Sweden. Five complete examples and two front fuselages are present. One of these is this AJS37 37097 in the colours of F15. It previously served with F6 after being delivered to the Swedish Air Force in 1977. In 1997 it was modified to AJS37 standard.

The Flyg- och Lottamuseum in Optand has one of the largest collections of Saab Viggen fighters in Sweden. Five complete examples and two front fuselages are present. One of these is this AJS37 37097 in the colours of F15. It previously served with F6 after being delivered to the Swedish Air Force in 1977. In 1997 it was modified to AJS37 standard.

These bases were continually manned with a skeleton maintenance crew to keep them action ready. In case of war, the units would disperse to pre-assigned bases. This outside diorama shows a Viggen with a Jeep service unit and a GPU. A Volvo fuel truck would complete the line service units while in the field.
