This Nord 262 was a familiar sight at Gatwick in the early 1970's. It was sold to Ransome as N26228 in 1975 and spent the next 12 years in the US. It was then sold in Australia as VH-HIX and was used by a variety of regional carriers before being withdrawn from use in 1995. Is now preserved at the Queensland Air Museum. Scanned from a slide.

This DC-3 previously operated with Air France as part of the fleet of Le Bourget based DC-3s & DC-4s on the Postale Nuit service, which saw aircraft each night fanning out all over the country delivering mail. It changed hands several times after this date and was scrapped in 1976.

Carrying additional Air Inter titles when seen here, this Nord was written off next year. On 5.12.71 while landing at Lannion, the aircaft overshot the runway by 1.5km, hit a tree which tore off 1.9m of the wing and continued 1.8km before crashing
