One of the last Il-62s to emerge from the line at Kazan, completed in 1995 but remaining at the factory unsold. Eventually appeared in this short-lived livery a few months before the photo, but repainted into a pure KAPO (Kazan Aircraft Production Organisation) scheme in May 2000; see later shots in two different versions of this factory operator's markings. Visiting the Sheremetyevo Research Institute in the middle of the nineties, what a tour that was! A dozen different types visible in the background and complimentary Tupolev just airborne in the far right. Orient Avia had the nicest livery I ever saw on an Il-62. [Kodachrome slide]
