This 403 was sold to Turkey as 68-0403 in July 1991 and started to serve 172 Filo as 7-403. This Phantom was the first one modernized under the Turkish "Simsek" programme and after upgrade it was redesignated as F-4E/TM. The aircraft was eventually withdrawn from use by November 2001.

It made its first flight on 29 September 1982, was delivered to Marinefliegergeschwader 1 on 24 November 1982 and was transferred to the Luftwaffe (AG51) in the fall of 1994. After al long service life, the IDS was scrapped at Jever air base by September 2015.

After the decommissioning on 31 January 2002, the 2nd Staffel of JG72 continued until mid-2006 as the Fluglehrzentrum F-4F (FLZ, F-4F) or F-4F flight training center, the JG72 patch on the intake continued. This 3803 was eventually scrapped after its military career.
