Built in Oxford in 1942, DE995 interestingly wasn't really needed for the war effort and was stored until 1944 when this Tiger Moth was assigned to a Free French training unit. She served in the French air force until 1951 and then in aero clubs as F-BGFL and F-BKFL. Sold to the USA in 1972, she now adds a touch of Britishness to the Stonehenge Air Museum while still airworthy.

On De Havilland Day at the Shuttleworth Trust, Old Warden

I have often looked at this huge church in the pictures from Shoreham. I now know that it is the chapel of Lancing College. Begun in 1868, it should have gotten a tower twice as high! The Tiger was built in 1940.

There was also a veteran vehicle parade at this Biggin Hill Air Fair giving a period backdrop to this photograph.

RAF PG690 taken on charge May-1944, to Netherlands AF PG690 taken on charge Jul-1946, reregistered A-10 early 1947, to PH-UFC registered Apr-1952, back to Netherlands AF A-10 Jan-1954, struck off charge Jan-1961 and stored, to Luchtmachtmuseum at Soesterberg Jan-1968, in 1978 for a short period to Lips Autotron in Drunen, in 1981 to Militaire Luchtvaart Museum in Soesterberg-Kamp Zeist, in 2013 to Nationaal Militair Museum at Soesterberg. Here it is temporarily taken out of the museum for display in a tent at the Open Days.
