A very colourful former Austrian Air Force PC-6. These colours were applied when still in military service.

C6-EAU, a very appropriate registration for a beauty of hydroplane Former US Navy 32957, taken on charge on 25 April 1943, this Widgeon received two Lycoming GO-480B1B engines in April 1956 after being sold on the civilian market as N9591H and CF-HEN. It spent some time in Central America, returned to the US and was sold to the Bahamas in 2014. A Bahamian flag can be seen on the right, attached to the wing. Apparently, the aircraft was for sale during Air Venture 2016, when this picture was taken...

An old friend from Europe, former Slovenian armed forces PC-9 L9-53, now in use as a privately owned aircraft in the USA. Its Slovenian lineage is still clearly visible, despite the American markings.

A 1954 built Piaggio 136L-1 moored at the seaplane base near Oshkosh for Air Venture 2016. It has worn this registration since 1961!

An old friend from Sweden, former Swedish air force Sk61E Bulldog 61050 seen here at Air Venture 2016. Taken on strength with the Swedish Air Force on 30 June 1972, it went to Lund University in 2001 as SE-LND. To N104MR in 2007.

Post War Texan for the USAF with serial 49-2920. Stored at Davis - Monthan after withdrawn from service, the aircraft was registered N55720 in 1980.

Built in 1960, this Cessna 310D is painted as a L-27B Blue Canoe.

In the mid 60s, promoter / pilot Jack Canary arranged for new BU-133s to be built in Germany by Josef Bitz Flugzeugbau using original plans. While production of the initial five aircraft was underway, Mr. Canary was killed in a warbird crash in 1968. Only four aircraft were delivered (N4937 was the third off of the production line), but several more were completed from spare parts later on. The aircraft is pictured at AirVenture 2016 performing a perfect inverted pass.

Hegy Propellers founder Ray Hegy manufactured wooden propellers for homebuilt and ultra light aircraft. In 1950 he began design and build of a single place high performance biplane. The Hegy R.C.H.I. "El Chuparosa" (Spanish for hummingbird) first flew in 1959. It was regular at the annual EAA Fly-in at Rockford, IL 1960 - 69 before the event moved to Oshkosh, WI. The unique aircraft was donated to the EAA on August 14, 1977.

US Air Force Texan 49-3272 was active 1951 - 56. Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB, it was sold surplus in 1956 and registered N3167G.

Aeronca Aircraft returned to civilian aircraft production in 1945 with two new designs ; the 7AC Champion and 11AC Chief. The manufacturer ceased light aircraft production in 1951 and in 1954, the Champion Aircraft Corporation was formed and bought the 7AC design for production. This 1962 Champion Challenger was sold in September 2016 and was registered C-FPTR. It was involved in a mid-air collision on June 14, 2020, damaging the tail. The aircraft set down on the Ottawa River and flipped over with the pilot exiting with minor injuries. The other aircraft was able to land at Arnprior airport.
