Sudanese Air Force F-5Es 206 and 208 were delivered to Sudan via Prestwick, Lakenheath and Nice between 26 May and 13 June 1984. These were the only F-5Es delivered to Sudan, together with two F-5Fs. Unfortunately, both F-5Es had already been lost by October 1985, and one F-5F crashed in June 1984. The remaining F-5F was then handed over to Jordan.

In 1996, while with Air North, it suffered a terminal accident after take-off from Bronson Creek. The No.2 engine caught fire then separated from the wing. Despite full power on the remaining three engines and full deflection of rudder and aileron controls in an attempt to prevent yawing or rolling, the aircraft came down in a river bed. Must have been a terrifying experience for the crew.
