"Kate" 302 arrives from Rabaul as part of the surrender of Japanese forces in the South-West Pacific. The Japanese had requested permission to surrender their remaining airworthy aircraft to an Allied air arm and Jacquinot Bay was the nearest Allied air base. 302 remained there deteriorating until about 1982 when it was dismantled and stored. This Komet was later placed on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

A week-long Air Forces Fair held at Wright Field in October 1945 attracted more than 500,000 visitors. This is one of many aircraft seized by the Americans and brought to the USA. Several were on display at the Fair.
