Edgar Percival posing alongside the first "new build" Mew Gull, G-AEKL, at Gravesend. It was flown by Percival in the 1936 King's Cup Air Race and the Folkestone Trophy Race that summer before being sold to Air Publicity Ltd for use by Tom Campbell-Black in the Schlesinger Race. It was then fitted with a Gipsy Six Srs II and DH variable pitch propeller, becoming an E.2H in the process.

The prototype of the Hampden. The production aircraft looked less angular, with the "birdcage" nose replaced by a curved Perspex moulding that incorporated an optically flat bomb aimer's panel. With the aircraft and its tyres in pristine condition, the location is assumed to be Radlett where it was built and made its first flight. However, the museum gave no location for the photo. The C.I served in the Dutch army air force from 1920 until 1939, lastly as a trainer. This airframe was written off after flipping on its back on 16 June 1936, and this may be assumed to be that crash. It still has the original BMW inline engine. Photo from: Bodo Sandberg collection
