This was the second regular flight of Plus Ultra to Ecuador. The airline started flights to Quito and Guayaquil two days before and in this second flight they brought the old livery. Here you can see flight "Spanish 601" departing from runway 36 off to Guayaquil and then to Madrid.

An unexpected visit: "SPAR 12" in short final to runway 36 of the Mariscal Sucre Airport arriving from Mexico City, transporting both Democratic and Republican US senators for a meeting with the Ecuadorian president.

After a go around, and two really peculiar and impressive approaches, this exotic visitor from Bogotá landed at Quito. This flight was supposed to arrive the day before from Port-au-Prince (MTPP), Haiti, but after a considerable delay, it changed its original flight plan and headed to Bogotá where it spent the night, before continuing to Quito. After a little more than an hour at the ecuadorian capital, this Hercules left, heading towards Curaçao (TNCC).

View of the control tower of the, now closed, Atahualpa Airport and converted into Ciudad Blanca Park. This airport was inaugurated in 1958, it consisted of an asphalt runway (20/02) with 1.935 meters. This airport served the city of Ibarra, Imbabura province. Tame and general aviation aircraft operated there, such as the Icaro Learn 2 Fly school aircraft and also some ultralight aircraft. On its last years of operation, it had military traffic. Finally, in 2011, the Atahualpa airport was closed and the new park was built. The control tower is still standing with the "Ecuador Loves Life" logo.

Its second appearance in the skies of Quito. The beautiful "Vulcano" of the FAC takes off to Bogotá (SKBO) from runway 18 due to the start of the summer wind season. The reason for his visit is uncertain, but it was certainly a great special visit although the runway, angle and light conditions were not the best.

During a sunny afternoon we were able to capture the beautiful DHC-6 Twin Otter of the Ecuadorian Air Force on the general aviation platform of Quito, an unusual visit in the capital since these planes are based at Cotopaxi airport in the city of Latacunga.
