The Royal Commission of Al Ula had set up a small warbird base at the airport of Al Ula during the 'Winter at Tantora'-cultural festival. Several warbirds were used for pleasure flights and a few small airshows. This one is flown by Aerial Advantage.

Several large helicopters were based at the Al Ula airport for the 'Winter at Tantora' cultural festival. These were undertaking scenic flights as well as local transport to sights in the Al Ula valley, including Medinah Saleh.

Flyadeal operated four Vueling A320s in early 2020. The Saudi Arabian aviation authorities banned international flights on 15 March 2020 and domestic flights later that week, due to the spread of Corona virus. EC-LVP arrived late Febuary in Saudi Arabia, so only operated for about 6 weeks before being taken out of service. All four A320s returned to Barcelona. Apologies for the nasty reflection on the right.

The heliport is part of the buildings of the Royal Commission of Al Ula (RCA) who are the organizers of the festival. This photo was taken from a Beech 18 overflying all of the festival sites in the area. This was the first year the cultural festival was open to foreign tourists. In the compound we can see the grey AW139 HZ-HC3 and the brand new black AW139 HZ-HC5.

Saudi Lowcost airline Fly-a-deal is quickly expanding.

Saudi Arabia was not permitting passenger flights during the Corona 2020 period. As a result this B787-10 arriving from Abu Dhabi was arriving with just cargo. The airplane passed the terminal and continued to the cargo ramp.
