Displayed at the Pima Museum

Its very hard to believe that the Bumble Bee actually flew. Maybe just long enough to qualify for a flight.

Entered service with USAF in April 1945. Converted to a TB-29 in March 1952. Transferred to Davis-Monthan AFB (4715th Revron) in June 1959. Loaned to Pima in 1975, where the marking of 'Sentimental Journey' were later applied. Some of the wartime stories include crew complaining about the lack of windows in the back. A flack hit fixed that problem for him. Battle damage repairs (on the flap) can also still be seen. The aircraft was part of a squadron where the aircraft were named after the 7 dwarves. This one was named 'Dopey'. another surviving B-29 is the famous 'Doc'. The aircraft was used in the filming of the movie Enola Gay. During the filming, it was discovered that the wartime markings were still etched in the aircraft skin.

Entered service with the US Navy in June 1953, retired in August 1955. Transferred to Pima in October 1974.

Constructed in October 1964, first flight in March 1965. Entered servive with the USAF in 1965 as 61-7951. Loaned to NASA around May 1991 as an YF-12C with false serial 60-6937. Back to the USAF in October 1978 and redsignated SR-71A. Loaned to Pima somewhere between 1978 and 1991.

Formerly with Aerospace Technologies as VH-HVZ. To the US Customs Services in March 1989 as N6328. To the Pima museum in May 1996.

Operated privately from 1964 until 1992, when it ended up at Pima.

The massive Peacemaker has been beautifully restored and is so impressive. Ten engines turning and burning must have made a loud song when it was flying. Only four of them in existence. Named "City of Ft. Worth" on this side, "Justice with Victory" on the other side.

Entered service with the USAF in February 1949 and was involved in the Berlin airlift. Converted from C-121A to VC-121A in 1950. Based at Paris-Orly between June 1951 and March 1952, used as personal aircraft by General Eisenhower (SHAPE commander). Transferred to 1254 ATW around 1960, back to Europe as VIP transport in 1962 and used by General Greunther of NATO. Transferred to 7101st Air Base Wing at Wiesbaden. Retired in January 1967 and Transferred to the Military Aircraft Storage and Disposal Center (MASDC) with inventory number CK036 in June 1967. Loaned to Pima in 1972, restored between March 1989 and August 1990. The aircraft is called 'Columbine', after the state flower of Colorado.

Delivered to Eastern Air Lines in March 1952 as N462A. Became N462M in August 1961 for Mohawk Airlines and served many different owners until its final retirement. Preserved at Pima since 2001.

Constructed as a B-47E-55-DT and entered service with the USAF as 53-2135 in April 1956. Converted to EB-47E in April 1964. It served with the 6th Bombardment (Medium) Wing out of Lockbourne AFb before being transferred to the Military Aircraft Storage and Disposal Center (MASDC) with inventory number BB553 in December 1964. Loaned to Pima sometime between 1969 and 1991.

Developed in 1939 and the last "heavy" observation aircraft for the Air Force. Only 203 Owls were built. This aircraft entered service with the USAF around 1940, crashed and wrecked in a landing accident at Brooks Field, Texas. To the Commemorative Air Force Airpower Museum at Teaxed between 1974 and 1984. Stored unrestored at Chino, moved to the Yanks Air Museum at Chino by 2002. Seen dismantled on a trailer at Chino in February 2004, likely on the way to Pima (on loan). By 2008, a restoration project was started, which lasted until September 2011.

Constructed as a C-123B-12-FA and entered service with the USAF as 55-4505 in November 1956. To the USCG in August 1960 as 4505. Back to the USAF in March 1972 and stored the Military Aircraft Storage and Disposal Center (MASDC) with inventory number CP0029. To Pima in 1978.

Constructed as a SA-16A and entered service with the USAF as 51-0022 in January 1952. Loaned to Pima somewhere between 1962 and 1971. The aircraft was restored and painted in the markings of the 31st Air Rescue Squadron, Clark AB, Philippines circa 1957.

Constructed as an AD-5N and delivered to the US Navy in April 1955 as 135018. Converted to AD-5Q (1958), A-1G (1962) and EA-1F (1962), Painted with markings VR-702 when it arrived at Pima. Sometime between 1994 and 2008 it was painted in the marking that are visible in the photo.

Created by Robert Starr in 1983/1984, donated to the museum by him in 1990. It's hard to believe it (I know I have trouble with it), but Bumble Bee has really flown (at Marana (KMZJ) With a wingspan of 6 ft 6 inches and a lenght of 9 ft 4 inches, it even holds the World Record for the smallest piloted biplane (dated january 28, 1984).

The worlds first supersonic bomber on display at the Pima Air & Space Museum. Constructed as a B-58A-20-CF and delivered to the USAF as 61-2080 in October 1962. Transferred to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center (AMARC) with inventory number BQ0050 in June 1970. Loaned to Pima in 1972.
