The historic Pan-American Goodwill Flight of 1926 and 1927 through Mexico and Central/South America covered 35,200 km (22,000 mi) and took 59 flying days The flight was made in five Loening OA-1A amphibian aircraft and to stimulate public interest, each aircraft was named after a major US city; 'New York', 'San Antonio', 'San Francisco', 'Detroit' and 'St. Louis'.
