A late production B-17G takes off from its birthplace at Boeing Field in 1945. Like most later Fortresses, it is left in natural metal finish. A total of 12,731 B-17s were built by Boeing, Douglas at Long Beach and Lockheed Vega at Burbank. Photo obtained from Boeing.
