The Sukhanov Diskoplan were a series of experimental gliders designed by Soviet designer Minon Sukhanov. Sukhanov built four versions of the disc wing aircraft in the 1950s and 1960s. Seen here is the Diskoplan 1, which first flew in 1958.

The Sukhanov Diskoplan were a series of experimental gliders designed by Soviet designer Minon Sukhanov. Sukhanov built four versions of the disc wing aircraft in the 1950s and 1960s. Seen here is the Diskoplan 2, built around 1960, it has a circular vertical tail, fuselage bow with cockpit integrated into the leading edge of the disc wing. The excellent collection at Monino has this example on display.
