About to touch down for an official two day state visit with President Masisi on board, and after an almost 10 hour long direct flight from Gabarone. This 2009 built Global Express is the 3rd Botswana Government aircraft to carry serial OK1, after a BAe HS-125 (till 1992) and a Gulfstream IV (from 1992 till 2009). Both previous aircraft have first been re-serialled to OK2 when replaced with its newer and bigger successor, and then sold later.

Ex N17587. Delivered in 1992 and based with the VIP Squadron at Gaberone. Re-serialled OK-2 in September 2009 when replaced by a BD700XRS Global Express and sold in 2011 as N731AE. OK1 had previously been used on two Bae125-800s, the first of which was written off in August 1988 and the second, which became OK2 in 1992 (when replaced by the Gulfstream 1V) was later sold.

Fibreglass Hawker Hurricane mounted on a plinth at MOTAT. It is modelled on the aircraft flown by Sir Keith Park who was leader of 11 Group, RAF during the Battle of Britain. 11 Group was tasked with defending London and south-east England. Park, a New Zealander, returned to his homeland after the war and died in 1975. The code OK-1 is Sir Keith Park's personal code, not a squadron code. Photo by: Suresh Syed, Wellington New Zealand
