G.W.Shield was Headmaster of the High School at Mexborough, Yorkshire, where it was constructed as a school project. It was registered 13 September 1968 and made its first flight from Hemswell on 30 October 1971. It was damaged in a ground loop on landing at Finmere 16 August 1980, after which it was stored for several years before eventually being restored. It is still current March 2024.
