An obscure Bell H-12 helicopter in the Boston Common park in Boston. An 8 is just visible and this should thus be 46-108. The ten YH-12Bs were not delivered until 1950 it seems. They probably didn't last until 1956, when Leslie Jones retired as a newspaper photographer. Photo by: Leslie Jones / Boston Public Library

New York National Guard troops pictured with the first YH-12B. The pilot is Bell chief pilot Floyd Carlson. The YH-12Bs re-used serial numbers of cancelled YR-12s and it seems they were not delivered until 1950. Photo published in Popular Science of December 1950. This very airframe went to Italy for Agusta's AB.102 development and its remains are in the Volandia museum. Photo from: Bell / Niagara Aerospace Museum

Prototype of the XH-12B / Bell 48A, an enlarged variant of the XH-12 / 48, supposedly able to lift ten people. Not flown until 21 November 1949 according to Johan Visschedijk. Written off in a forced landing near Niagara Falls three months later. Ten YR-12Bs built but no series production. Despite the type's serious issues, one YH-12B was shipped to Italy years later to form the basis of the Agusta AB.102. Photo from: Bell Aircraft Museum
