First flown on 14 October 1987 and delivered to 229 OCU on 13 April 1988, this F3 served through the years 56 Sqn, 111 Sqn, 25 Sqn (as pictured), 11 Sqn and 43 Sqn before it became a weapons instruction training at Leuchars. The Tornado was stored at Leeming from April 2009 and was sadly scrapped by February 2010.

The F3 served 5 Sqd was involved in a little incident and was rebuilt with F2 parts at St. Athan in late 1994, served 43 Sqd, 56 Sqd, 5 Sqd, 11 Sqd , 25 Sqd the Coningsby ASF, and was eventually stored at Leeming in the fall of 2008 and stripped for spares. On 25 February 2021, the Sentinel R1 Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) era came to an end for the Royal Air Force. RAF Sentinels, introduced in the RAF in 2008, saw combat operations in Afghanistan, Libya, Mali, Nigeria, Iraq and Syria and was closely involved in surveillance operations near the Russian border / Kaliningrad. The UK Ministry of Defence advised the Defence Equipment Sales Authority (DESA) that the five R1s of 5(AC)sq (this ZJ690 and ZJ691, ZJ692, ZJ693) to sell the aircraft.

On 25 February 2021, the Sentinel R1 Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) era came to an end for the Royal Air Force.
