An interesting, sharp photo of an early Huey, assigned to the US Army Aviation Board, a test unit, at the 1959 Paris Airshow. It wears the Army designation HU-1, without the A suffix sometimes claimed for its batch. HU-1, which gave rise to the Huey nickname, was changed to UH-1 in 1962.

The Griffon was a response to a 1953 requirement for a light supersonic interceptor. The prototype, powered by a SNECMA Atar 101F turbojet first flew in September 1955 and this, the second aircraft which used the combination of an Atar 101E-3 turbojet and Nord ramjet, flew in January 1957. The aircraft was extensively tested by the CEV with much of the test flying being undertaken by André Turcat, later of Concorde fame. Despite reaching a speed of Mach 2.19 in October 1959, the programme was scrapped in 1960 and the Mirage went on to fulfil the interceptor contract. Photo by John Fricker

This proposed light transport for the Armée de l'Air had its first flight in May 1959. Dassault did not receive any orders, so this sole example was used as a liaison aircraft by Dassault until 1964.
