Designed by Alberto Jona, the J.6 prototype had a tilting upper wing for lateral stability, automatically deflecting the ailerons to restore it to the neutral position. The rate of tilt was limited by a pair of telescopic struts, which could be locked to allow aerobatics. The central hinge as seen here was changed before the aircraft first flew on 24 May 1936. It was later flown by Leonardo Bonzi as I-BONZ. Six J.6S trainers without tilting wing were delivered to the Italian air force. Photo from: Fondazione Fiera Milano
