The Breguet XIV is a French biplane bomber and reconnaissance aircraft of World War I. It was built in very large numbers and production continued for many years after the end of the war. Although the Bréguet 14 did not enter into combat until September 1917 it quickly became one of the best aircraft involved in WWI. Its exceptional robustness and 300 hp engine enabled it to be used on all fronts as a bomber and high altitude reconnaissance aircraft without any escort. Production ceased in 1926 with a production run of around 8,000 units exported to 14 nations. After WWI, the type's good performance gave rise to numerous civilian versions for commercial transport or mail transport.

This was a WWI reconnaissance and bomber type. It first flew on 21st November 1916 and by the end of the war about 5500 had been built for military purposes. After the war a two seat passenger version was built and in total as many as 7800 may have been built. Very few survive. This example was displayed at the Musee de l'Air prior to the move to Le Bourget where it is now exhibited
