Little is known about this Bf109 captured by the Australians. It was used by 3 Squadron as a hack, hence the serial HK849. This is not an official RAF or RAAF serial. There is a photo of the fuselage of this aircraft and another Bf109 fuselage on a large stack of scrap metal in Egypt They were trophies not worth saving as the war and 3 Squadron moved across the Mediterranean to Italy, Photo from: Air Force Museum of New Zealand
