Impossible to photograph without obstructions, as the aircaft had been pushed into a corner and was in the process of being scrapped. A sad end for an aircraft that had served with such illustrious carriers as Canadian Pacific, Northwest Orient, Braathens SAFE, and TMA.

To Trans Mediterranean as OD-AES in March 1965, then to Zantop as N99114 in October 1973 and Pacific Alaska in February 1976. To Vortex as N11VX in October 1983, re-registered N9779N February 1987. Broken up in 1993.

Originally delivered to Canadian Pacific Air Line in September 1953 as CF-CUT. As seen also here in AirHistory.net, it has more colorful c/s earlier, but got this one most likely after 1983 when owned first by company called Vortex Air International as N11VX and then Universal Air Equipment Leasing as N9779N. Companies which flights favored low visibility. Bought by Florida Aircraft Leasing on January 1990 and ferried to KFLL, where broken up spares by April 1992.

No reg showing but positively identified as N9779N, ex N11VX of Vortex Inc. Past identities also included N99114 Zantop, OD-AES Trans Mediterranean Airways, LN-SUI Braathens SAFE, N566 Northwest Orient and CF-CUT Canadian Pacific, to whom it was originally delivered new Sep 1953.

This was a second DC-6 registered to Vortex Inc. as N11VX. (The first, c/n 43266, was sold in 1983 as HR-AIV). This one was previously N99114 with Vortex and was re-reg in 83 when the other N11VX left for Honduras. Vortex did a great deal of contract work for the CIA at the time. This frame later became N9779N.

Registered to a private owner at the time. Among other past operators it flew with Braathens SAFE as LN-SUI. To Vortex Inc Oct 83 and later re-reg N11VX. To N9779N Apr 87. Broken up Jun 92.

Previous regs are: CF-CUT, N566, LN-SUI, OD-AES, N99114 and N11VX. It was impounded at Bogota in 1987 with this registration. In colours like this you wonder why. After a 37 year history it is being scrapped for spares.
