a lone survivor - one of 6 Convair 5800s converted, soon to be retired

The aircraft returned to Canada in August 2016 as C-GKFS and is still active there operating for Kelowna Flightcraft. It can be tracked flying several times a day between Vancouver International and Victoria International, with average flight times less than 20 minutes.

A Convair R4Y-1 when delivered to the US Navy, this aircraft was later converted to a VC131F. Retired in 1986 and stored ar AMARC, it was allotted registration N14094 in 2000 and acquired by Kelowna Flightcraft. The aircraft was converted to a Convair 5800 by 2004 and registered C-FKFS . Operated by Air Freight NZ as ZK-KFS 2004 - 15, it returned to Kelowna Flightcraft Air Charter as C-FKFS.

Civil registration is just below roundel. Acquired by Kelowna Flightcraft ex AMARC and converted to CV5800 registration C-FKFS in 2001. Exported as ZK-KFS in 2004 then imported in 2016 and (confusingly) registered C-GKFS. Operational with Kelowna Flightcraft Charter in 2023.

Always nice to see the aircraft I spent many mornings offloading when I was working ramp at YYJ. Arriving from Victoria this evening as FK574.

Kelowna Flightcraft's stretched 5800 has a fuselage that is 14 feet longer than the 580.

Kelowna Flightcraft engineered Stretch 5800 version has had its fuselage lengthened by 14 feet 3 inches. Larger engines added.

Second use of registration C-FKFS on a Convair 5800. It was first worn by c/n 276 (1991-1998), then by this c/n 277 (2001-2004), then c/n 343 (2005-2007), and finally by c/n 279 (2009-2012).
