Hahnweide has a very strong glider hertitage and so it wasn't surprising that the organisers chose a glider display, compare and contrasting older and more modern gliders, to open the flying display at the Oldtimer Fliegertreffen 2019. This glider was built in 1938 and was formerly HB-475.

This old glider, owned by Werner Roth from Switzerland, was designed by the Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Segelflug (DFS) and built by Kittelberger in Bregenz. It is ex Luftwaffe, coded LX-WJ, and it managed to somehow survive the war. It was restored in the late 1990s and is seen here at its home base as one of several historic gliders operated by the Fliegenden Museums Hahnweide. The registration HB-475 was cancelled on 15 June 2015, when it became D-4788.
