Ex USAAF 43-47419, the last of only 17 C-46Es built by Curtiss Wright at St Louis. Registered to Seely G Mudd as N30019 in 1945 and leased to the Ibex Corporation in 1948, returning off lease in 1967. Sold in 1968 via A J Levin to FEDECOOP of Ensenada, Mexico as XB-LIU the aircraft was withdrawn from use by 1977 and subsequently scrapped. (photographer unknown)

N79978 crashed on approach to Burbank, California, on July 12, 1949 killing 35 of the 48 occupants. The flight had originated at La Guardia the previous day and might be the departure caught in the photo. Titles carried read "Fed. de Coop. Pesq. Baja California F.C.L.", which is an abbreviation of this organisation's full name. The full name is shown on the tail (prefixed by "Transporte Aéreo de la") and roughly means Baja California Regional Federation of Cooperative Societies of the Fishing Industry. It was formed in 1940 and was also known then as FEDECOOP. The aircraft was already wfu at the time of the picture.
