Registered in 1995 ex VH-RHQ. During conversion to a taildragger, while still registered VH-RHQ, the swept fin of the 182D was initially retained

All is not as it seems! This aircraft was built as a Skylane, registered N8751X. It was re-registered in Australia as VH-RHQ(1) on 22 March 1961. At some point it was converted to a taildragger, but retained the swept Skylane fin. It was withdrawn from use on 6 March 1986 but restored as VH-PKD(2) on 31 October 1995, now with a Cessna 180-style fin. This makes it look very much like the original VH-PKD(1), which was a genuine C180, just to confuse things!

A Cessna 182D, VH-FBG was converted to a tail dragger and fitted with an unswept fin, making it look like a Cessna 180. The owner has further confused the casual observer by painting Cessna 180 II on it.

The first VH-PKD was a Cessna 180H sold in New Zealand in 1995. The second -PKD was this 182D. It is ex VH-RHQ reregistered in 1995. It was given a tailwheel undercarriage conversion back in the 1970s and for a while at least retained the swept fin of the D Model 182. It now has the 180 style straight fin and looks at first glance just like the original -PKD.
