Ex 44-72922 with the USAAF. To private owners as N7718C, N18Y, N6803T and N577WD. Converted to a P-51R, rebuilt as a racer, modifying the aircraft with the mainplane of a Learjet 23. Became N91KD. Crashed in June 1989 after an engine failure. Damage was substantial and the registration was cancelled. Restored with original wings and tailplane of 44-72922. The restoration was completed in June 1993. Became N93TF. Crashed again in February 2003 after a spin during aerobatics. Again restored, completed by 2009. Became PH-VDF in November 2009 and OO-RYL in March 2018.

A second seat could be fitted under the standard bubble canopy of the P-51D. Only a few aircraft were so converted during WWII. One of them carried General Eisenhower on an inspection flight over the Normandy beachheads.
