In service on the Northern Air Cargo ramp at Anchorage International. Formerly with Trans-Air-Link, joined Northern Air Cargo in 1989. Withdrawn from use by 2008. Acquired by Everts Air Cargo in 2009. Stored at Fairbanks and broken up for parts.

Ex PP-LFC, registered N779TA 29th March 1978 , initially operating without titles. Transferred to Northern Air Cargo 31st Aug 1989

Apart from the registration, devoid of markings.

With its wings and tailed removed, this former Northern Air Cargo DC-6 is one of a lineup of DC-6 type aircraft awaiting the scrapman in the Everts boneyard.

N779TA and I meet yet again!

I caught up with it again, taking a rest at OPF following its European adventures several weeks earlier.

Operated by Trans-Air-Link departing runway 22 for Luqa, Malta and thereafter Larnaca, Cyprus. According to a source the crew was Capt. Guy Cottington, F/O Kim Goodman, and F/E Terry Exeley. Kim was the daughter of Hank Goodman who had owned another DC-6 airline called Klimex Inc., before he tragically died in an accident in his company's DC-6 N43865 whilst on approach to Kingston, Jamaica, in July 1979.

Early morning shot of this Trans-Air-Link DC-6C which had originated from Miami (via Gander I think) and arrived the previous evening in foggy conditions. The first approach resulted in a go-around but they made it in on the second attempt. These were the early days of TAL when they were operating as a 14CFR Part 125 operator, thus why the aircraft was unmarked. When they moved to operating as a 14CFR Part 121 air carrier, that's when the aircraft acquired Trans-Air-Link markings. (Credit goes to Marc Hookerman for that info). It would fly on to Luqa (Malta) and Larnaca (Cyprus).

This former Trans Air Link DC-6A was one of six retired NAC DC-6/C-118 aircraft stored at Fairbanks in September 2005. The very accomodating NAC personnel parked her on the ramp and opened her up for inspection.
