This was the first DH-4 to be manufactured under license in the United States by the Dayton-Wright Airplane Company of Dayton, Ohio. Used for flight testing in the United States during World War I, it was donated to the Smithsonian in 1919 and restored by the National Air and Space Museum at the Silver Hill Facility in Maryland from 1980 to 1981. It is now on display at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
