What a treat! A real Fokker-built former Royal Netherlands Air Force Hunter F4 in Indonesia. Not too many Dutch Hunters are left, let alone in Indonesia. This aircraft served at Biak, Dutch New Guinea in the early 60s, against Indonesian forces trying to gain control of this large island territory. It was damaged in a crash and left behind when the Dutch left New Guinea in 1962. Fortunately, the Indonesians saw the historic value of this aircraft and saved it for future generations.

A genuine Royal Netherlands AF Hunter, one of 12 ferried aboard the Dutch aircraft carrier Karel Doorman to New Guinea in 1960. They were operated by the Dutch against Indonesian attempts to take control of New Guinea through into 1962. N-112 was damaged beyond repair following a crash into the sea off Biak in August 1962

This 880 was later registered N42, and after FAA it was N84790 with Flight Systems, and then modified to UC-880 BuNo 161572 for the United States Navy.

On display at Museum Pusat TNI-AU Dirgantara Mandala. This was one of 12 Hunters delivered by HNLMS Karel Doorman (R81) to Hollandia, New Guinea in 1960. It was damaged beyond repair following a crash into the sea off Frans Kaisiepo Airport, Mokmer, Biak on Aug. 20, 1962.
