The Hawker Hotspur was a two-seat fighter derived from the Henley light bomber. Judged to be equal to the rival Boulton Paul Defiant, but Hawker themselves were unenthusiastic. This sole prototype, with dummy turret, not flown until June 1938, when production had already been cancelled. Photo taken at Brooklands or Martlesham Heath. K8309 to RAE Farnborough in 1939 for testing flaps and dive brakes. Scrapped after a belly landing in 1942. Image scanned from a postcard.
