This MD-81 was delivered to TDA Toa Domestic Airlines on June 20, 1986. After the privatization of Japan Airlines in 1987, deregulation followed that allowed independent Japanese airlines to compete with JAL and All Nippon. TDA was rebranded to Japan Air System in 1988 competing with the majors until the airline was bought by JAL in 2001. By 2004 the airline name was changed to Japan Airlines Domestic until fully integrated to JAL in 2006. JA8498 was sold to Allegiant Air (N519PT) in June 2010 and flown to Kingman, AZ by July to be used for parts.

Delivered new to TOA Domestic 20th June 1986, re-branded as Japan Air System Apr 1988 and merged into Japan Airlines Apr 2004

Delivered new to TDA 20th June 1986 and merged into JAL Apr 2004, to N519PT 28th June 2010 and ferried RJTT-PANC-KIGM 2nd July 2010 for scrapping

Lined up on Rwy 24. This was one of the very few JAS a/c that did not wear a small 'JAL' sticker alongside its titles.
