This 1941 Taylorcraft DC12-D was imported to Canada in 1969. It is was approved by Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) for an owner maintenance program which is signified by the "X" added to the type designation and serial which results in a special certificate of airworthiness. It was based at Emsdale Airport north of Huntsville, Ontario which was constructed in 1935 as part of the Trans-Canada Airway system to improve airport facilities across Canada and facilitate greater air service.
