The Flogger-H was produced from 1973 to 1985, with a total of 624 built. This example was originally delivered to the NVA as 694 and later became 2042 with the German AF after German re-unification. It is now preserved at this eclectic museum (previously named Swabian Farmers and Technology Museum (Schwäbisches Bauern und Technikmuseum)) situated to the north-east of Stuttgart. Only the NVA markings are still visible.

Later serialled 2042, this former NVA MiG-23BN with serial 694 can be found on display with the Kiemele Museum in Seifertshofen, wearing the last two of its former NVA serial on its nose wheel door. The rest of its markings have faded. It was first reported here in August 1993.

Delivered to JBG37 at Drewitz in February 1980. The MiG was handed over to the Luftwaffe as 20+42 on 3 October 1990. It was eventually withdrawn from use at Drewitz in February 1991 and moved to a museum at Siefertshofen for preservation in August 1993.
